MUGHEAD COFFEE
359 New Cross Rd, London SE14 6AT, UK
Editor's Review
Shining centrepiece of this lovely café owned by Canadian couple Mark and Star is the ‘Black Eagle’ machine, that next to its exquisite design also contributes in making a good cup of coffee. At Mughead you can enjoy espresso and filter coffees by Square Mile in a friendly setting inviting people to relax and feel at home. Connecting with the community started at the very beginning when they held a name poll outside the premises with (potential) customers, which led to ‘Mughead’. The space gets plenty of natural light complementing their minimalistic yet cosy interior. People in the area have been raving about their homemade cinnamon rolls and they don’t disappoint. This signature item, next to the tomato jam cheese toastie, is always on the menu, while the team like to vary with the other brunch options consisting of sandwiches, filled croissants, baguettes and bagels. Milk wise Mughead serves oat, coconut, almond, soy and fresh farm milk from Northiam Dairy.
The owners are planning to use the downstairs area, where you can find more seating, as an art space for exhibitions and gigs. With Goldsmiths around the corner they are located in the middle of the New Cross buzz.
