Ninth Street’s second East Village location has a brighter, more-bustling vibe than the original location just a few blocks away, but the excellent house-roasted coffee and super-simplified menu are the same – as are the daily pastries, the selection of Chemex brewing equipment on offer, and the bags of beans and merch available (it’s worth pointing out that Ninth Street’s ninja-esque floating-cup logo is one of the coolest in the city).

The long, narrow space is perfectly suited to the young professionals and families that stream in and out with their to-go drinks all day, but those who want to stay get a long counter with barstools, WiFi, a rotation of local artists’ work along one wall, and a good view into Tompkins Square Park just across the street.
