Nkora (Shoreditch)
21 Hackney Rd, Shoreditch, E2 7NX
Editor's Review
Hackney Road was once the spiritual home of specialty coffee in London. The whole coffee community gathered in Taste of Bitter Love (now closed) and Gwilym's stall that he had then on Colombia Road market. New on Hackney Road, joining the likes of Lanark are Nkora.
Nkora are named after a region in Rwanda and serve coffee from a range of roasters.
Food wise there are filled sourdough baguettes using bread from Pavilion Bakery and weekly changing fillings, as well as toasties, brioche sandwiches, frittatas, soups, salads, pastries and cakes.
Matcha is directly from Japan and The Biscuit Baker provides sweet treats. Encouragingly, Nkora plan to use all waste water and all waste coffee as fertiliser in a herb and vegetable garden out the back.
