Origin Coffee (Euston Road)
96 Euston Rd, KIngs Cross, NW1 2DB
Editor's Review
Having Origin Coffee Roasters running two coffee places at the British Library is a great sign of the times. A sign of the success of specialty coffee. Even disregarding the library, this is a high profile location indeed, with thousands of visitors and locals passing every single day. But hats off to The British Library for their vision for a progressive food and drink offer.
Origin are getting so much right: the coffee roasting and sourcing, the preparation (with intense attention to detail) and the café design. This elegant space, created by Anna Hart of Hart Miller Design, Neil McCartney of Finest Joinery and Joe the Gentleman Blacksmith creates an oasis of calm and focus just yards from traffic scarred Euston Road.
For coffee, you have several options, a flat white or espresso with shots pulled on a stunning Kees van der Westen Spirit with customised front panel illustration by Rob Lowe/Supermundane. You can enjoy the batch brew of the day or one of Origin’s superb filters on Kalita Wave.
A similar attention to sourcing is applied to a small food menu which has select and tasty breakfast and lunch dishes. Examples of provenance include meats from British producers sourced through Cannon and Cannon and British cheeses sourced through Neal's Yard.
