It’s impossible not to be impressed by the Dorchester’s take on speciality coffee, or even that they would want to create a café like this. Mayfair is notoriously short of great coffee so to find a place like this on Park Lane is a delight. The team here get so much right. The coffee from Alchemy Coffee Roasters is spot on, the staff are friendly and skilled and the opulent setting is one to enjoy – whether it’s the sculpted Canadian wood ‘dune’ tiles, canary yellow La Marzocco machine, English marble floor and bar, elegant lighting, or views of Hyde Park opposite. It’s a great marriage of Dorchester glamour and artisanal coffee shop culture. Clever details include USB charging docks and electrical sockets by the window seats and an old fashioned newspaper rail.

Coffee is taken very seriously, whether espresso based drinks using Alchemy’s Opus blend or single origin filters. Alternatives include Golden Grind turmeric lattes and cold brew from a tower system. There’s also a cold press juicer –which works at a slower pace to extract the fruit juice rather than shredding it. If you’re hungry, you’re in luck, Parcafé stocks food and cakes prepared by chefs from The Dorchester and chefs from sister property 45 Park Lane. The cupcakes are essential (and we’re normally cupcake-averse). House made sandwiches include salted beef with sauerkraut and smoked salmon, cream cheese with fresh dill. These are served on a variety of artisanal bread types freshly baked in-house

The Dorchester joins a select group of hotels that truly care about great coffee and have used the resources at their disposal to create a very special café, with an atmosphere that somehow combines luxury and relaxation. This is a great addition to Park Lane.
