Pharmacie Coffee Roasters
18 Cambridge Grove, Hove BN3 3ED, UK
Editor's Review
Hove’s charming Pharmacie Coffee Roasters open up their roastery (complete with a Giesen W15) to the public on Saturdays. It's set close to Sussex cricket ground and to reach there, you need to walk down the cobbled street of Cambridge Grove, past a number of mechanics’ garages and look for the sign, which depicts a set of scales – as they say, ‘Great coffee is a balancing act.’
The venue showcases Pharmacie’s own roasts, whether made on the espresso machine or brewed by Chemex, V60, Clever Dripper or Aeropress. It’s all about making coffee, the way you want it, even nitro or cold brewed. There is also a good range of single origins from other roasters in the U.K.
Coffees are served with vegan doughnuts by Brighton’s Glazed, vegan so as to be inclusive – which Pharmacie always aims to be. They change their food offering regularly but the quality is consistently good.
Pharmacie encourage dogs to visit, and go out of their way to make canine visitors welcome. As they say, they offer wi-fi but you’ll be ‘too busy having awesome convos to use it’. It’s that friendly a place. Beans are on sale and the roasters co-host Cambridge Grove Makers Market with their studio neighbours, selling ceramics, sculpture, plants, textiles, prints & design.
