Pot Kettle Black
14, Barton Arcade, Deansgate, Manchester M3 2BW, UK
Editor's Review
Pot Kettle Black is tucked inside Barton Arcade, just off the busy and bustling commuter thoroughfare on Deansgate in Central Manchester. The building’s exterior is that of a Victorian shopping arcade, with plenty of brass and long windows, with the interior much more back to basics, stripped back wooden benches and stools. It instantly instils a sense of calmness, despite being just metres from the hubbub of traffic and people, with a warm and magnetic environment. It offers table service, a rarity in most coffee shops in cities, and the staff are knowledgeable and passionate about their core product – the coffee.
Coffee, served elegantly with water and a wafer is the start of the offering at PBK, which has a dedicated breakfast/lunch menu which takes inspiration from a global spectrum and includes Harissa Eggs, Nduja Eggs, Tofu Tacos and Pork Belly. Despite being set back from the main Deansgate itself, PBK is still a great people watching spot due it to the impressive long windows, and makes an ideal spot for those looking for something a little stronger than coffee after work with an extensive wine list and a boozy hot chocolate.
