Press Coffee & Co
81 Chancery Lane, Chichester Rents, WC2A 1DD
Editor's Review
Press Coffee is solely owned by Andy Wells and Davide Pastorino. After running Fleet Street Press since 2011, they have opened their second coffeeshop just up the road from Department of Coffee’s Chancery Lane site. Continuing their association with the legal fraternity, the new location fits well. Just as Fleet St Press serves inner and middle temple inns, Chancery Lane serve Lincolns Inn and the Rolls building which is an extension to the Royal Courts of Justice. Expectations of coffee quality are high in the area and Press Coffee don’t disappoint. The whole of Chancery Lane is undergoing a regeneration programme and more may well be to come on this street.
The coffee is their own roast; the tubs on show highlight their blend and single origins and flavour notes can be found on the wall. Bulk brew filter and Chemex are available as well as espresso based drinks. Food includes morning pastries, porridge, bircher muesli and granola yoghurts with a wide selection of cakes and bakes. Lunch takes the form of soup and homemade artisan sandwiches.
The design of the space is quite lovely – the building has a wonderful bay window and some excellent seating options despite a great deal of their customers asking for takeaway. The space also catches the sunlight wonderfully. Look out for a great range of coffee gear and merchandise too!
