Quarter Horse Coffee Roasters
88-90 Bristol Street, Birmingham B5 7AH, UK
Editor's Review
Quarter Horse are a Birmingham coffee institution, roasting on a Giesen on one side of their spacious venue on Bristol Street. Pretty much square in shape, the space is largely given over to the coffee-shop element, with a long, wide table for multi-occupancy and plenty of two and four-seaters sprinkled around the edges of the room. This also leaves a large area in front of the tiled bar, always a boon for those just getting takeaway brews.
Coffee comes, of course, from Quarter Horse themselves, and it's great, either as a pour-over or espresso-based drink; there are usually several options to try as well. The brunch menu is limited, granola, toast, and smashed avocado in the mornings, soups and sandwiches around lunch, but it's tasty and made fresh (the granola, from Lizzie's, is gluten-free, crunchy and sweet and really rather nice).
Ample space, bright and airy, with friendly staff and great, local coffee – Quarter Horse is a Birmingham staple, and it's clear why.
