Positioned somewhere between design store and community space, Relationships is a welcome addition to Clinton Hill, which despite rapid growth in the "fancy" sector has long lacked for suitable coffee spots. 

The brews here—from very-local, just-up-the-road roaster Parlor Coffee — may be a little hit and miss preparation-wise, but the space makes up for it. An ample communal table encourages laptop work, meetings, and, indeed, the forging of relationships, while the back patio offers oodles if space in warmer months. It's an event-ready space that bills itself as "concept-driven", in case the displays of FiestaWare, vintage chairs, and op-art whatsits hadn't tipped you off. 

Settle in for a spell with a healthy (or health-ish) muffin from the pastry case and coffee options from filter, standard espresso drinks, and even Turkish coffee while perusing a design magazine and contemplating your next vase purchase.
