Roasting Plant Coffee

The sixth Roasting Plant Coffee outlet to open, this end-to-end production coffee shop stands proud against the hustle and bustle backdrop of London Bridge station.

The concept is - shall we say, different - from the typical coffee shop we include on Best Coffee.  With their patented Javabot technology you can sit and watch green beans get sucked out of a tube, dance around in a transparent roaster, pushed into a "roasted" tube and ultimately then fly over your head through pneumatic tubes to a grinder and automated espresso machine.  Gimmicky?  Possibly.  Impressive? Definitely!

You wouldn't typically associate a push-button espresso machine with being listed in Best Coffee, but Roasting Plant Coffee seem to have have taken a successful step towards an automated experience.  For sure we were hesitant, but the fruity single origin Ethiopian arrived with supreme aroma and would have been indisinguishable from a hand made spro. This was only one of half a dozen coffees you can pick to order.  Whilst the passer-by may be a little overwhelmed by choice, the more experienced coffee drinker will appreciate the selection or simply picking a coffee that suits their mood.

Whilst we're not convinced that "make your own blend" is going to lead to a great coffee, it's a fun concept that you can't help but want to try!
