More often than not, the average coffee customer in the PATH is looking for a quick hit of caffeine to allow them to power through the workday (or even the PATH itself). Owner Sam James clearly kept that in mind when designing this location of Sam James Coffee Bar. Basically functioning as two shops in one space, the coffee bars are mirror images of one another. In an intelligent effort to power through lines and speed up service, each barista has their own station fitted with a till, two Mazzer grinders and a Linea PB. And if that wasn’t fast enough, Newco batch brew is available all day as well.

They have been serving here since 2012, which has made them a specialty staple for downtown coffee enthusiasts. Even though the PATH has grown, Sam James remains in a quieter section of a less developed hallway relative to other restaurants and cafés. That means that even in this crazy congested web of shops, Sam James can provide a moment to escape the stress with a great cup of coffee.
