Shin Coffee
13 Nguyễn Thiệp, Bến Nghé, Quận 1, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam
Editor's Review
Slap bang in the centre of Saigon, Shin Coffee is arguably one of the city’s most well-known specialty coffee shops; an ambassador for Vietnam’s specialty coffee scene in an area brimming with foreigners and tourists looking for their first taste of Vietnam city life. The café space itself is narrow and deep, lined with bar seating, exposed brickwork and low-hanging lights. It’s a beautifully calming space.
Shin Coffee roast their own coffee and serve up a combination of blends and single-origin, mostly consisting of arabica sourced from either Vietnam or Ethiopia. The Shin Blend is an excellent choice for first-timers looking to explore the traditional Vietnamese flavour whilst allowing some of Saigon’s best baristas to show you what’s possible with home-grown beans and serious brewing skills. Just a 5-minute walk away is Shin’s sister café, offering similar vibes but on a three-floor scale where owner, Nguyễn Hữu Long, hopes to create an educational hub to spur Saigon’s burgeoning young talent to coffee-induced success.
Please note: If parking your scooter outside the café, a security guard will ask for your keys, hop on your bike and disappear. Stay calm. It’s a small street. This is normal!
