Simon's Coffee Shop

Neighborhood fixture Simon’s provides a needed dose of caffeine to the underserved north Cambridge area of Porter Square. Occupying a long, narrow space on Massachusetts Avenue, the shop focuses on quality coffee preparation and a community vibe. Rotating art exhibits, accommodating staff, and a crowded bulletin board confirm the impression of a lived-in college-town hangout. The shop uses beans from Gracenote and George Howell. When owner Simon Yu is on bar, as he often is mornings, a superb cappuccino is assured. A lunch menu features bagels, soups, and sandwiches. Sibling cafe Nine Bar Espresso offers well-made drinks in a simple space on the north side of Davis Square in Somerville, a fifteen-minute walk away.
