Editor's Review
SIipstream is a cafe whose sense of comfort is so carefully executed that you may not be able to get a seat to enjoy it. For coffee lovers and novices alike, the venue offers an accessible menu with four descriptors: Comfort, Floral, Bright, and Fruit. Under those headings are mostly coffees from Madcap Coffee, with a rotating selection from multiple guest roasters. Slipstream's staff is warm and knowledgable without betraying a fussiness about coffee. You'll mostly observe them complimenting a customer's sweater or recommending other great shops in Logan Circle.
Slipstream's food and alcohol offerings are seriously elevated for a coffee shop. Salads and sandwiches with seasonal ingredients are served throughout the day from an open kitchen and toasts with spreads like goat cheese mousse are worth a visit even for those who don't drink coffee. At night, they turn into a cocktail bar and it's a seamless transition with an elegant, curved bar where a barista or bartender serves beautifully presented drinks throughout the day. The menu and shop layout are driven by the coffee but with a great selection of food and beverage options on the menu, one could easily spend all day in Slipstream.
