Society Café Oxford
12-16 St Michael's St, Oxford OX1 2DU, UK
Editor's Review
The Society Café's elegant blend of considered interiors and top-notch coffee has its most north-westerly outpost in Oxford on quiet St. Michael's Street, which links the Cornmarket with New Inn Hall Street and is the site of the university's Union building. The interior is bright and light and makes good use of a blend of high stool seating and tables with chairs to maximise the space. And while there's a good, steady stream of customers and the comensurate chatter, the venue manages to retain a calming ambience with its white walls, splashes of the trademark light blue and green plants.
The guest roast selection is impressively wide, and has featured Bath's Colonna, Berlin's The Barn, and Bristol's Roundhill, among others. Coffee comes in espresso-based drinks and a range of filter options. For great coffee in a central location, Oxford's Society Café is hard to beat.
