Steeplechase Coffee
3013 Fort Hamilton Pkwy, Brooklyn, NY 11218, USA
Editor's Review
On a quiet commercial strip that is wedged between Prospect Park and Greenwood Cemetery in leafy Windsor Terrace, Steeplechase is a classic neighborhood cafe. A light-filled space, the walls usually covered with local artists' work and there is a welcoming vibe here that begs you to sit and chat for a moment, and that is usually what is going down here among a great mix of locals. The treats are from Doughnut Plant, Amy's Bread, Balthazar, and Terrace Bagels, and Steeplechase also sells loaves of fresh bread, as well as milk, eggs, and other specialties from Battenkill creamery, along with a selection of whole beans from their roaster of choice, Brooklyn Roasting Company.
Steeplechase sits just across Fort Hamilton Parkway from the Brooklyn Prospect High School and Windsor Terrace Middle School, so afternoons here can feature some younger patrons, but the peaceful energy never really breaks here, and all are welcome. Of course you can grab and go, but this is a place where customers are friends, and you may want to linger awhile.
