STREAT
La Trobe St & Swanston St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia
Editor's Review
STREAT’s Melbourne Central Station location gives commuters and pedestrians alike a great go-to in the busy station. The only not-for-profit roaster in Australia has a small set up, surprisingly with some seating, although minimal, on the concourse level of Melbourne Central Station. Coffees are made with their Social Blend, for a well executed milky drink, sweet, chocolatey and clean. Prepped sandwiches from the Cromwell kitchen and toasties are available along with some sweet delights. A rotating single origin is also available, as black or if you prefer, with milk, and for those who enjoy a more delicate an flavour full black coffee, rotating filter coffee is available via batch brew.
Keeping in line with the company concept, a lot of focus is on sustainability and social projects such as training for the homeless, using Reground to help permeate coffee waste, and using the mushrooms growing out of it. As mentioned on the Cromwell review, the website is a definite must if you want to support and read up on some great initiatives. Check it out, and if at Melbourne Central station, check them out.
