Portland's iconic Stumptown Coffee Roasters furnished coffee to a solid variety of Los Angeles cafés, grocery stores, and restaurants before launching their own sparkling café-roastery in the Arts District in 2013. Now a bustling central hangout, this spot shares foot traffic with the renowned Bestia restaurant and boasts a massive roasting and training facility to accomodate its ever-growing wholesale business, plus hosts weekly tastings on Wednesdays.

Like many buildings in this neighborhood, Stumptown continues the industrial warehouse vibe with high ceilings of exposed wood beams, polished cement floors, and white brick walls, all while staying on brand with its Pacific Northwest roots. Douglas Fir wood counters and chocolate cream ceramic cups remind you that "it's good where there's wood," and the café aims to please with a solid menu of espresso-milk beverages, cold brews, and seasonal specialties.

After cooling down with a hopped cascara soda, you may want to grab a bite, in which case the pastry options remain limited to a small selection of Sugar Bloom treats. We recommend venturing to the nearby Bread Lounge for a hearty sandwich afterwards.
