Sugar Pot
248 Kennington Park Rd, London SE11 4DA, UK
Editor's Review
Regulars, homemade cakes, and mismatched wooden seating – Sugar Pot, five minutes from The Oval, is homely, intimate and cute, i.e. small-but-in-a-good-way. Because of the size, the seating is pretty limited so it’s best to go on a day when the weather allows you to sit on the outdoor chairs at the front and sip your coffee (or read one of the books or magazines offered) overlooking Kennington Park.
The blackboard menu just states ‘Coffees’, but the options are impressively extensive – ask for something and they’re bound to have it. If not, the staff are friendly and attentive and are sure to suggest an alternative if they can’t accommodate your caffeine needs. Their Cortado was particularly creamy and delicious. Food is centred around brunch and lunch, with a ‘Soup of the Day’ available to both eat in and take out. Milk and alternatives (Soy, Coconut, Almond) are also not only offered but available to buy by the carton. All in all, a strong supporting statement for the idea that good things come in small packages.
