The Brass Rail at Selfridges
400 Oxford St, Marylebone, London W1A 1AB, UK
Editor's Review
The Brass Rail is a canteen-style cafe nestled in the corner of Selfridges food hall on the ground floor. Order and pay for your food and drinks at the counter before finding a table in the large seating area. What it lacks in personal service, it makes up for with the well-portioned food. The salt beef and sauerkraut sandwich with melted cheese comes highly recommended, but there are also smoked salmon options and chicken soup on the menu.
The coffee comes from Origin, who provide the cafe with a different blend every few weeks. Espresso-based drinks are the only option, but the quality is high – it's worth noting, though, that it's a busy venue with plenty of staff so consistency *might* be an issue from time to time. Although pricey, it’s what you would expect to pay in one of London’s most popular luxury shopping destinations. And the salt-beef is worth the trip alone!
