The Coffee Virus A Lab
Overhoeksplein 2, 1031 KS Amsterdam, Netherlands
Editor's Review
What began as a pop-up kiosk in a co-working space is now a bona fide café serving an array of speciality roasts (in espresso and slow formats), fresh lunch and catered dinners. In fact, some would say The Coffee Virus is what gives life to A Lab.
This entrepreneurial hub for the tech set and different creative professionals is housed in a former Shell laboratory in Amsterdam Noord. Headed by the amiable Floris van Luttervelt, The Coffee Virus has officially been running since September 2013. Today it serves not only as the building canteen (with access to a crowd-funded terrace for warm-weather dining), but the hearth around which its diverse staff can network and socialize.
“We want to be the connecting part in A Lab and other places like this,” Van Luttervelt once said. Sure enough, the business has multiplied, with a second branch now opened at Amsterdam Science Park.
