The Robin Craft Cafe
38 Sheen Ln, London SW14 8LW, UK
Editor's Review
Down the road from Mortlake station, The Robin Craft Café brings a cute niche scene to South West London: an unusual mixture of South East Asian exoticism with a quaint British tea party. Handmade and hand-painted crockery is used and also for sale, putting the ‘craft’ in Robin Craft Café. As well as the usuals, drinks include Asian delights such as Thai Tea Latte, Chai Tea Latte and Gingerella, but the Vietnamese Coffee is particularly delicious, arriving with condensed milk in a traditional ‘The Saigon Coffee Company’ strainer. Note: the coffee is served at the temperature best for releasing the full flavour, but speak to the barista if you want it extra hot to suit the U.K. climes.
The food is similarly multicultural – on one hand you have granola and scones, and on the other there’s bahnmi (Vietnamese sandwich), Thai curry, and chicken satay with rice, which also comes as a Kid’s Meal. The café is very child-friendly, with games, books and magazine available to borrow, so expect lots of small kids running about.
