The Wydown Coffee Bar
1924 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20009, USA
Editor's Review
The first and last thing you'll notice at The Wydown is the smell of fresh-baked pastries. The cozy U Street Corridor coffee shop has plenty of seating for its small footprint and there isn't a spot in the shop where you can escape the sweet scent of cinammon rolls and cookies. If that hasn't convinced you to make The Wydown your new office, the coffee definitely will. No fewer than four Baratza Fortes stand ready to grind coffee from a variety of American roasters brewed on a Kalita Wave and their espresso bar is long enough to have room for both a La Marzocco Strada and a gorgeous powder-blue FB80.
Once you've chosen from the myriad coffee and pastry options, you can enjoy just how lovely The Wydown is. Edison bulbs hang overhead warmly lighting the modern black-tiled coffee bar. Coffee inkblots line the wall in built-in frames and even the wavy ceiling carpet, a mandated sound buffer for the residential building, contributes to the simple charm of a shop that's anything but simple in its offerings.
