Twin Pines Coffee
11 St James's St, Brighton BN2 1RE, UK

Editor's Review
Twin Pines is one of a kind. It’s a friendly neighbourhood Kemptown coffeeshop with Brighton’s first Slayer coffee machine, a monthly rotating selection of roasters and an interior that could be mistaken for a Wes Anderson set. The owner, William Howell, has scoured second-hand stores and auctions to source the interior: a wooden floor from Hull, a stunning cast iron staircase sourced from eBay, Cuban style overhead fans, art deco lamps, enamel chilled water taps…there are more delicious details the longer you linger and it all fits together in the most remarkable way.
As William Howell, puts it, “We try to remove you from an ordinary street in Brighton. It’s about escapism, attention to detail and a well curated stereo. We create an antithesis to High Street chains where atmosphere, service and coffee are paramount.”
Descend the staircase to discover a hidden world downstairs or stay by the bar to chat with staff and locals. Twin Pines serve a range of espresso and filter coffees and teas in unique locally made earthenware drinking vessels with unique drinks such as the Corlina, where a ristretto is blended with 70% chocolate milk. Tea is from Jing and milk from Northiam Dairy. Pastries are from Julien Plumart. Pets are welcome and will be fussed over.
