Verve Coffee Roasters began in 2007 in Santa Cruz, California. This cafe location is located at a busy intersection in the Castro and is Verve’s first location in San Francisco. Over the years, Verve honed in on its mission to be responsible purveyors of coffee, from the farm level to the street level. Their Farmlevel Initiative is built on direct relationships with the producers they work with while their Streetlevel ideal lends the communal European cafe aspect into their cafes.

Verve hired LA-based design firm Design, Bitches to give the cafe its airy, oceanside feel. A full food menu features items from Manresa Bread, the bakery born from three-Michelin-starred restaurant Manresa. Espresso drinks are pulled on their 4-group Kees van der Westen with custom front panels. While there’s plenty of standing bars and seating options, the intersection receives a lot of foot traffic, so be prepared to take items to go.
