Stoke Newington still has a patina of urban grime, for all its recent gentrification. While Stoke Newington Road or the arty Church Street have recently seen a lot of interesting change, much of the rest of N16 still offers little. But Northworld Road, which curves from the A10 off towards Clapton, is home to a bright, modern café that brings light and a touch of South American flair to the area.

Yellow Warbler is small but comfortable, quietly but pleasantly decorated in light tones, and serves an excellent cup of coffee. They use Dark Arts coffee for espresso-based drinks and brewed coffee. Yellow Warbler also offers Eteaket teas and superb snack food—Venezuelan arepas and empanadas stuffed with chorizo and manchego or black beans and plantain and cheese, to name but two.

It’s not the biggest café in the world, or even in N16, but what Yellow Warbler does, it does very well.
