Yorks Cafe at Ikon
1 Oozells St, Birmingham B1 2HS, UK
Editor's Review
Yorks Cafés have a few venues in the city, and this is located within the building that houses the Ikon Gallery in the Canalside area. It's a delightful space, with high ceilings, exposed brick decorated with local art and photography (there are also art and design magazines left on tables for browsing), and a wide bar area overlooking copious table-seating. There is also a significant outdoor seating area. The Ikon Gallery itself houses interesting and varied artwork and a great little bookshop, so if you visit the gallery, check out the café, and vice versa.
The brunch and lunch menu is impressive, and 20" pizzas are on their way in spring 2018. Otherwise, you can have eggs, waffles, soups, and a wide range of sandwiches and flatbreads. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are available. Coffee comes from Yorks' own roastery – it's dark and punchy. The venue also serves a range of wine and craft beers.
