Coffee Guide to Cambridge, MA

North West of Boston, over the Charles River lies Cambridge MA. Famously home to Harvard University, but more recently home to some great specialty coffee shops. Here's our pick of where's visiting.

Curio Coffee

Curio Coffee

Tucked in a corner of East Cambridge near the Boston line, Curio Coffee looks out on a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood that was, until recently, mainly Portuguese. The cafe offers Counter Culture coffee prepared by an expert staff.

barismo 364

barismo 364

Occupying the spacious premises of a former auction house, Barismo 364 (formerly called Dwelltime, under the same ownership) is the Cambridge retail location of the noted roaster based in Woburn. Barismo has received the Best of Boston award for its coffees, several of which it sources through direct-trade relationships.

Broadsheet Coffee Roasters

Broadsheet Coffee Roasters

The only coffee roaster in Cambridge, Broadsheet opened in 2017 in a well-windowed corner near the Somerville city limit. Owner Aaron MacDougall, a finalist at the US Cup Tasters Championship, shifted into coffee from a previous career as an investment banker. He has lavished attention and resources on the shop, down to installing a multi-step water filtration system to tame Cambridge’s hard water, which runs on a separate system from Boston’s.
