Best Coffee Weekly - Week 9 2019
We took a trip to Roasting Plant Coffee and wrote up our thoughts
We also published 60 coffees shops as 'On Our Radar' - if you find some coffee shops in your area as on our radar it means we haven't visited them yet. We're always on the look out for local cafe journalists so feel free to take a look here if you're interested in working with us.
We've been researching and adding coffee shops in The UK (London, Harrogate, Banbury, Leicester, Bridlington, Hitchin, Arundel, Inverness), Spain (Seville), Czech Republic (Prague), The US (Dallas, Denver, San Francisco), Hungary (Budapest), Ireland (Limerick), Australia (Port Macquarie), Saudi Arabia (Al Hofuf) and Austria (Salzburg).
Coffee News from Other Places
Sprudge Trawls Tijuana
Sprudge's (via James Stout) write up of where to drink coffee in Tijuana
Brian goes to Omotesando in London
Painfully aware that we haven't visited yet, so in the mean time enjoy Brian's write up. We've heard that the coffee is more of a traditional experience, and that the fit out is stunning.
Huckleberry Roasters (Denver) Coffee Bag Design
Awesome bags. We've long since wanted to run a feature on retail coffee bag design. We're also recently building out our Denver listings.
Infection risk from reusable cups - study
So...you might get sick if you don't wash your reusable cup. It's hard not to see how this is Painfully Obvious but there is a grey area of responsibility here. You'd clean your cups at home, but we are in this new world of "who should wash the reusable cup" - the coffee shop or the consumer? We're always deeply apologetic to hand over a cup with dregs, but sometimes it just happens!
Workshop at Holborn to Close
Some initial speculation, but largely due to the area not living up to the longer term hopes of a bustling commuter hub and driving the kind of footfall to make the site work long term.
Department Acquires Baker & Spice
Following the sale of Patisserie Valerie, the smaller Baker and Spice brand has been sold to Department of Coffee and Social Affairs. Definitely a UK based coffee business to watch!
Peak Water
The teaser website for the much anticipated Peak Water (water filter jug optimised for coffee) has gone live.
