Coffee Roaster Introduction: UE Coffee

Coffee Roaster Introduction: UE Coffee

Best Coffee's roastery guide is a compilation of the very best, tried & tested coffee roasters from around the world. We’ve hand-selected a small collection of amazing coffees for you to sample. Not all coffees are created equal, and not all coffees make it into our shop. So we’re starting a series of articles shining a light on our chosen roasteries to explain why we picked them for your drinking delight.

UE Coffee

Where: Oxfordshire

Who: Established by husband & wife team Dominic and Daniella Boyett

Since when: 2009

Why: We like this family-run roastery for the size of their ambition and the heart they put into everything they do. From growing, to sourcing, to blending & roasting, to brewing; EU understands that it takes real skill to achieve a great cup of coffee and give equal effort and respect to each part of the process.

What’s the story: UE is a specialty roaster based in Oxfordshire which professes to be more than the sum of its parts. They attribute their success to the passion of their team & their determination in the pursuit of excellence.

Sustainability credentials

UE Coffee Roasters

UE carefully chose their green coffee importers based on their traceability and direct-trade links with the producers. Here in the UK the company are careful with the rest of their suppliers, from packaging to energy providers to make sure they meet UE’s green and sustainable ethos. They use green gas for roasting renewable energy to power their HQ & café and their packaging is either compostable or recyclable without exception.

Understandably, UE are most proud of their ‘Barista Foundation’ which supports numerous causes in the form of donations and skills training, both in the UK and further afield.

Our favourite coffee:

UE Coffee Roasters

Columbia Finca El Oasis Micro-Lot - On her family-run farm, Luz Mila González focuses on producing high-quality harvests. This coffee has been fermented for 30hrs with added tartaric acid and cinnamon to produce a truly special coffee. With tasting notes of cinnamon, caramel and Biscoff biscuit, this coffee can be easily enjoyed with or without milk.
