Community Powered Coffee Shop Data

Community Powered Coffee Shop Data

This week we started rolling out a new feature in the app, and we wanted to talk a little bit about what it is and how it works.

The feature has been designed to help improve, verify and update the information the app presents to users around the world for different coffee shops.

By serving up simple Yes/No questions on the coffee shop info pages in the app, we're hoping the power of the coffee community can help others find the best places to visit. The first question we've put out is whether a coffee shop is wheelchair accessible with step-free access.  We recognise the frustration that wheelchair users experience when turning up somewhere and finding it's awkard to access, and we hope we can build a reliable reference for wheelchair-accessible specialty coffee shops!

We understand that some people may not want to contribute to answer specific questions, or to answer any questions at all so we've designed the process to learn from your responses. By default we won't keep asking the same question more than a few times, and if after a little while you dismiss the questions, we'll stop asking you.

Part of this update is also helping is get ready for an exciting new update to the app whereby we will start to highlight and recommend cafes to you based on your favourites and those that you've rated highly. In busier cities this could be a great help when you're deciding which of 20 nearby coffee shops you might want to visit!

P.S. If you don't rate coffee shops you visit, we'd love it if you could spend a few seconds and add your rating! This helps others, but it can also help you as we look to roll out our recommendations!
