As The World AeroPress Championships move ever closer, we begin our series of interviews with the competitors. The first in the series is with Shay Baniel, Strauss Group's Coffee Training Manager and newly crowned as Israel's AeroPress Champion 2018; follow his journey on Instagram: @banielshay

Why did you choose to enter the AeroPress Championship?

I wanted to support the organisers of the AeroPress event

What’s your favourite way to make coffee (other than AeroPress of course!)?

I like almost all the methods and I change by the type of coffee I have, the time of day, and the mood.

What led you to using the AeroPress?

[I like to] experience every new product and method that comes into the market.

Which grinder will you use for the competition and why?

It does not matter to me which grinder, just the thickness of the grinding.

How did you get in to the coffee industry?

I worked as a barista to finance my studies and I fell in love with the coffee industry and the experience of a great cup of coffee.

What are you most excited about in coffee?

The complexity of the coffee profession and the ability to learn new things every day.
