Why:

We like them because they are women supporting women. It is their ambition to empower and honour women by telling their stories from the whole coffee supply chain. Additionally, they source only the finest coffee for their customers and are very passionate about it. They only believe in quality.

What’s the story:

Girls Who Grind Coffee is an all-female specialty coffee roastery owned and run by Fi O'Brien and Casey LaLonde. Fi, originally from Melbourne, Australia, and Casey, originally from Upstate New York, met in Frome, Somerset, and became friends there.

Their goal was to create an industry where women would feel empowered, celebrated, and heard for all they bring to the table. Therefore, they decided only to buy coffee from female farmers, sharing their stories and realising how much they deserve recognition for the incredible work they do.

They believe that the term “quality” should encompass the entire coffee, not just what you end up tasting.

Sustainability credentials:

They seek out those female producers who are growing coffees that create positive change through women's empowerment. The goal is to source and roast coffees from women whose stories deserve to be told, appreciated and celebrated.

In an empowerment program called “Cheek to Cheek,” 10% of the sale price of all retail bags of roasted coffee is given back to the producers.

The packaging is 100% recyclable.

This is one of the finest coffees from Girls Who Grind Coffee. They source it from three sisters producing it in Finca San Antonio Amatepec. This well-balanced coffee carries tasting notes of sweet and smooth butterscotch, apple cider doughnut, and toasted pecan.
