Inside the Best Coffee Pod Box - Origin Coffee Roasters

Origin Coffee roasters were founded in 2004 by Tom Sobey with the aim of sourcing exceptional coffee through a sustainable triple bottom line approach - people, planet and profit. They firmly believe, “Good coffee depends on good relationships”. They show this by supporting the farmers and mill partners directly and by giving us, the drinker, full traceability of the coffee. This, for me, is the most important thing about specialty coffee: the relationships that it cultivates.

Origin recently joined over 3,500 other companies in becoming a B-Corp; a company which “balances purpose and profit”. They are legally required to take into consideration how their decisions impact everyone involved in their business; from the workers to the suppliers to the customers. So it's not a surprise that Origin wanted to make sure that their coffee pods material choice was the best for the environment. They produced some in-depth research, that can be found on their website, into what are the best materials to use when making coffee capsules. They came to the conclusion that aluminium was their best bet, as it was environmentally friendly yet retained the quality and flavour integrity.

Now let’s chat about the coffee inside the recyclable coffee pod. Origin has chosen their House Espresso from Brazil: super rich with low acidity. This coffee capsule reminds me of chocolate and pecan with a real caramelised sweetness.
